Caleb Aaron

Monday, November 28th, 2005

We have finally decided on a name for Baby Brother.  He is Caleb Aaron Yates.  Caleb means faithful, bold, or dog.  We like the story of Caleb in the Bible where Caleb and Joshua were the only two of the twelve sent by Moses to explore the promised land who said they should go in and take the land because they believed God would give it to them.  In Numbers 14:24 God says of Caleb, "my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly."  We pray that our Caleb will also follow God wholeheartedly.  Aaron means enlightened or to sing.  Aaron is also a Bible name and Sam’s middle name.  Aaron was the brother of Moses and was a prophet and priest of God.  Micah is learning his baby brother’s name now, except he pronounces Caleb "A-bub" or "A-bup".  It’s pretty cute.

7 Months Along

Sunday, November 13th, 2005

We are 7 months along now.  I’m feeling pretty big and most of the other general discomforts of pregnancy, but overall pretty good.  I do get tired and take naps in the afternoons while Micah naps almost every day.  Some days I am really ready to be done, but I know the next few weeks will go by really fast, especially with the holidays coming up.  So here are the 7 month pregnancy photos, on the left is me now and on the right is me pregnant with Micah.

Halloween 2005

Tuesday, November 1st, 2005

For Halloween we like to go to the Harvest Fest at our church.  It’s like a mini carnival in the main worship center.  They have bounce houses, games, hot dogs, drawings for prizes, contests, free photos, and lots and lots of CANDY!  Every year there is a theme and this year the theme was "When I Grow Up".  Micah dressed as Daddy.  He wore tan pants, a golf shirt and dress shoes like Daddy most often wears to work.  I also made him a laptop bag to carry his toy cell phone and PDA.  Of course (as expected), Mommy carried it for him most of the night.  Here is a picture of Micah all dressed up and ready to go to Harvest Fest.  Click this link to see more pictures of Micah at Harvest Fest and few others from October.

We had hot dogs for dinner when we got to Harvest Fest.  Then it was time for fun.  Micah enjoyed the mini golf games.  The putters were so big for him he didn’t know what to do with them, so he mostly liked just walking up close and throwing the ball towards the hole.  I was amazed how often it rolled right in!  He also enjoyed the bean bag toss games and did very well from about one foot away. emoticon  He did very well at the life-size Candy Land game, drawing a card and then following the path till he came to the matching color.  The bounce house was a little too much for him because of so many other bigger kids in there bouncing around.  But he did manage to stand up and hold onto the side and jump a little at one point and he seemed to enjoy that.  It was interesting to watch him choose his candy prizes at each game, since he doesn’t really know what the different candies are.  We shared a roll of Smarties and he sure enjoyed them!  The rest of his candy we saved for later.  He also won a gift certificate to Tommy’s Burgers in the drawing.  It was a fun evening.
