Micah’s Haircut

Friday, February 24th, 2006

Here are before and after shots of Micah’s recent haircut.  It’s a pretty big difference.  We used the clippers this time instead of scissors and it went so much better.  He watched a Baby Einstein video while I cut his hair and he didn’t fuss or fidget at all.  When I’ve used scissors before, he’s cry and wiggle a lot, even with the distraction of a video to watch.  So this worked much better.  We’ll use clippers from now on I think.  It sure cuts his hair short though, even with the longest attachment we have for the clippers.  Daddy says he likes the short cut.  I think it’s OK but I’d like it better a little bit longer.  It’ll get there soon enough though and before we know it it will be too long and time to buzz it again.

Here’s the promised photo of one of Caleb’s first smiles.

Milestones at 6 weeks

Thursday, February 16th, 2006

Caleb is 6 weeks old now and hit a couple of major milestones this week.  The  first one is that he smiles real, responsive smiles now.  His smiles are so cute!  I’ll try to post a picture soon.  He will smile at us looking at him and talking to him.  He also smiles at his own reflection in the little mirror toy on his activity gym.

The second major milestone (it’s a toss-up as to which is more exciting) is that Caleb slept through the night last night.  His last feeding last night was around 10:30 and he didn’t wake up again until 6AM!  So Mommy got almost 7 hours of sleep, and all at once.  Yippeee!  We shall see if he makes a habit of it now, or if last night was just a fluke.

And finally, he has passed the weight limit for the bassinet attachment to the Pack ‘n Play, which he has been sleeping in at night.  The limit is 15lbs, which I just looked up last night.  He was 15.8lbs at his Dr. appointment last week.  I think he’s close to 16.5lbs now.  So I took the bassinet out today and he will sleep in the full Pack ‘n Play now, still in our room.  Once he is sleeping through the night fairly consistently, we will set up the crib again in Micah’s room and the boys will share the room.

boys holding hands

I took about a dozen photos of this first time Micah wanted to hold Caleb. This is one of my favorites. I love how Caleb is looking at Micah and Micah is looking at Caleb’s hand in his. So very sweet.

Micah’s 2nd Birthday Party

Micah blowing candles

Here’s Micah blowing out the candles on his birthday cake at his party. It was a Sesame Street themed party. The kids played a “Stick the nose on Elmo” game which Kayla won. Micah received lots of fun gifts, including lego duplo blocks, stickers, Color Wonder fingerpaints & markers, clothes, CandyLand, books, camping chair, beanbag chair, wooden train set, and a wooden peg pounder. The puzzle vehicle was a hit with all the kids. Micah had a fun birthday party.

Caleb’s One Month Portraits

Saturday, February 4th, 2006

We went to Sears to get Caleb’s one-month portraits and Micah’s 2-year-old portraits taken on Jan. 31.  There are some cute ones of Caleb, even though he was getting hungry and fussy.  We let him have his pacifier until we got him posed, then snuck it out for a second to snap the pictures.  Micah was not in the mood to have pictures taken, so the 2-year portraits didn’t happen.  We did manage to sneak a couple of Micah with Caleb though.  Not the best portrait session, but we did get a few decent ones.  Anyway, you can take a peek at the portraits if you like.
