Here’s our family on Thanksgiving. We had a nice dinner with Grandma & Grandpa Yates, Great-Grandma Yates, Uncle Charlie & Aunt Vanessa and some more extended family. Micah really enjoyed running around and playing cars with cousin Evan. I think Caleb’s favorite thing was looking at Aunt Dawn’s puppy in the backyard.

Friday we went to Legoland with Grandma & Grandpa. It was fun looking at all the models made from Lego blocks and playing with Micah in the different play areas. We got free tickets to return so I hope we can go again and see and do some different things.

We have so many blessings to be thankful for. Of course our newest blessing this year is Caleb, as this was his first Thanksgiving. I remember last year at Thankgiving we had just finally decided on his name. At 10 months old now, he is growing so fast and really getting active and showing his personality. I can’t believe Micah is almost 3 and also getting so big and learning so much all the time. We’re also thankful for a strong marriage, a good church, loving family, great friends, our home, Sam’s job, my ability to be home with the boys, our pets, good health, and so many little things we take for granted every day.

Hope you all had a Happy Thanksiving too, and don’t forget to count your blessing every day, not just on Thanksgiving Day.

Caleb’s New Skills

Well November is flying byand I am still catching up on getting all our photos organized and uploaded to Flickr. I made my own URL there so anytime you want to check out my pictures just go to www.flickr.com/photos/christyyates. Caleb is doing all kinds of stuff now. The biggest thing is that he crawls now. This is a whole new world for us. He can follow us around, get into Micah’s things, get into the cat food… It requires extra vigilance for sure. But he is so proud of himself. He is also starting to pull himself up; most often just to his knees but a few times he has made it all the way to standing. He still babbles a lot and even seems to say some recognizable things like Da-da, Ma-ma, Hi, Na-na (night-night), and gaa-ee (got it!). He started doing “so big” too. He loves the rocking horse and rocks so high it scoots across the floor. And we just discovered our bouncy horse seat adjusts to where he can sit in it so he loves jumping in that, which is great because he really is too big for his Johnny Jump-up. He is finally getting big enough to start to play with Micah and they like to sit on the kitchen floor and race cars together. Here are a couple pictures of Caleb’s newest endeavors: crawling, “so big”, and playing cars with Micah.

I don’t know where October went! It is too overwhelming to catch up with stuff from the past month or more so I am just going to start back in now. I will eventually get more pictures posted in Flickr from Sept & Oct so that will have to fill the gap between blog posts.

Anyway, this Halloween I got Micah this Cars Lightning McQueen Pit Crew costume since he is so into cars (not necessarily the movie, just all cars). But he would say he was a race car driver if you asked what his costume was. Caleb was a jack-o-lantern. We went to Harvest Fest at church. They had a Jolly Jump Jamboree this year. They put 10 Jolly Jumpers in the worship center. Micah loved it! He didn’t want to play any of the other games, he just went from jumper to jumper all night. Caleb had fun watching all the activity.

Caleb is about 10 months old now. He just started crawling this past week. He also just figured out how to sit himself up from lying on his tummy. So he is very proud of himself. He has 3 teeth on the bottom and the first two top ones are just about to break through any day I think. He has started to dance the last couple weeks which is so cute to watch. He kinda rocks forward & back, but the cutest is when he shakes his head side to side. His new favorite toys are a plush Clifford, his musical top (good music for dancing), and the rocking horse. He also likes looking at books and especially turning the pages. Board books with touchy-feely textures are his favorites. He likes to make noise and babbles a lot. He says “da-da” and “ma-ma”, but I’m not sure if he means “Daddy” & “Mommy” yet. That’s all the new stuff about Caleb I can think of right now, although it feels like there should be more.
