This month we spent a week in South Lake Tahoe at the Lake Tahoe Vacation Resort with some college friends and their families. It was nice to get away and relax for a week. The resort was pretty nice. It had a cool indoor/outdoor pool that was nice and warm in the indoor part. We enjoyed swimming a couple of the days we were there. There was also a great activities center where we could make crafts, borrow sleds for playing in the snow, or just hang out and play with the toys or watch the fish in their fish tank. We had some sickness while we were there which kept us from going out as much as we might have otherwise, but we still had a fun and relaxing vacation.
The boys saw snow for the first time. They didn’t really know what to make of it. We didn’t spend a whole lot of time in the snow. The first night we were there it snowed so the next morning Micah & Dad went outside to see it a little bit and they made a couple snowballs to throw. Another day we borrowed sleds and went to a snow park. Caleb enjoyed getting pulled around on the sled on some flat areas of snow for a little bit. We all watched Daddy sled down the hill once to show Micah what it was. Then Micah was brave enough to climb to the top of the hill with Daddy and sled down together. But he didn’t like the snow spraying in his face at all so one time was it. That was about the extent of our snow play.
We had some nice family times going out to eat a couple times, riding the Heavenly Gondola up to see some beatiful views of the lake and snow-covered mountains all around, and playing in the arcade at Harrah’s casino. The arcade was probably Micah’s favorite part of the trip. They have a Tiny Tots play area with slides and a ball pit. He also got to try playing air hockey for the first time, which he was actually pretty good at. He also tried Skeeball, but couldn’t quite get the balls up the ramp, so Daddy helped him out a bit. They earned enough tickets for a couple Tootsie Rolls from the prize booth which Micah was quite happy with.
We also enjoyed visiting with all our friends there with us: Scott, Sandra, Sarah, & Emily Bean, Jim, Anca, & Mark Williams, Joe, Laura, & Sarah Nguyen, and Scott & Lori McClaury. We shared a couple dinners all together, played with Sam’s new Wii, watched movies, and played Uno. We also traded babysitting so every couple got to go out alone to dinner and/or skiing.
Even with the sickness that went around, I think we all had a great trip. We always enjoy getting together with “the gang”. I think we agreed the next group trip will be to Hawaii. We can’t wait!
