I think Ms. Heidi (Micah’s swim teacher) must have been right. She said the getting a breath thing was a big hurdle, but once he got over it he would probably learn and improve quickly. It seems to be true since at Micah’s very next lesson after getting the breathing ribbon he earned 2 more ribbons! One says “I Can Jump In By Myself”. He jumped into the pool, came up for a breath, them swam to the side all by himself 3 times. The other ribbon says, “I Can Dive Down to 3Ft.” For that he went in the shallow end and (with some help) dove from the surface down to retrieve a ring. They practiced a couple times in shallower water, then did it once at the 3 ft. line to earn the ribbon. We’ll be missing swim lessons next week because we’ll be at VBS, but hopefully he can pick up where he left off the next week.
