I feel like I should write something because it’s been a while, but I don’t have any organized plan so we’ll see what comes out. Things seem to be busy but winding down now. Sam is almost done with his master’s degree at CLU. Awana and T-ball will be over in 2 weeks. I can’t believe Micah has almost finished his first Cubbies book. He was so excited to get to bring home Cubbie Bear for the week this week. He’s been going almost everywhere with us. T-ball has gone by pretty fast too. Micah has improved a lot. He says his favorite part is batting. His favorite field position is pitcher, although of course in T-ball they don’t pitch. The way they bat, the pitcher gets to field the most balls though so most kids like that spot best. Micah was pretty excited that he stopped a ball that went past a couple other teammates and threw it to first base in his last game. We are getting excited about our family vacation to Hawaii coming up in less than two weeks.
Micah is getting so big and so smart. He asks a lot of questions and we are kinda casually trying to teach him a new word every day. Usually something comes up in conversation or in a book or something and he will ask what it means and that becomes his word for the day. Sometimes he just thinks of it and asks for a word and we have to think of one to teach him. We don’t really have a plan or list we’re going through right now or anything. It’s amazing how well he remembers his Cubbies verses he has learned. He loves to play games and often asks to play Mom & Dad’s games. Some of them he can kinda play like Life and Monopoly and Uno. We’ve kinda tried Scrabble and Clue just to humor him, but he is really too young for those and tires of them pretty quick. He also likes to do crafts with markers and glue and glitter and such. He still loves to play with cars and he has also gotten really into GeoTrax trains. He is working on the crawl stroke and has even started learning backstroke in his swim lessons. He is still pretty dependent on his goggles though; he hates water in his eyes. Micah likes to listen to classical music like the Little Einsteins and also the Cars soundtrack. He has enjoyed finding ladybugs at the park lately and letting them crawl on his arms and hands until they fly away.
Caleb is getting big too. People sometimes ask if they are twins. I am amazed at what he can do at 2. He seems to have a pretty big vocabulary and speaks very clearly for a 2-year-old. He also likes to sing. He loves our VeggieTales CDs. He seems to have formed an attachment to our plush Clifford toy in the last few days; we’ll see how long that lasts. He loves swim lessons; he can paddle and kick to get breaths and get to the wall of the pool. He is working on getting up enough and opening his mouth to get big breaths before going back under. He loves swimming and doesn’t mind water in his eyes, but also enjoys wearing goggles I think mostly because Micah does. Of course he usually wants to do whatever Big Brother does. We’re going to have to capitalize on that soon with potty training; maybe this summer. He loves to jump and tries to hop on one foot. He is amazingly good at bouncing/dribbling a basketball. He also loves kicking and throwing and batting balls. We signed him up for a Playball class through the parks for this summer which I think he will love. He knows colors, shapes, and most of the letters and can count to at least 10. When we go to the park he always goes for the swings first.
Both boys have also gotten interested in golf lately. They often ask to watch golf if Daddy is watching any sports on TV. They have been having fun hitting golf balls in the backyard too. We will have to take them to the driving range sometime soon.
They are both also signed up for gymnastics classes starting in June. Also in June our Summer Splash swim play days and the church men’s basketball league where we watch Daddy play will start up.
I guess that’s it for now.
